Welcome to the Dolphin Discoveries Project website! We are so glad that you stopped by! Get ready to learn a thing or two about dolphins!

The Purpose of the Dolphin Discoveries Project

Our main focus is studying the behavior of Common Bottlenose Dolphins, as there are so many behaviors they display that we don’t know much about. We also do some research on how wild intercoastal Bottlenose Dolphin communities function, and we are currently trying to learn all that we can about the individual dolphins that call the Gasparilla Marienland area their home.

Where Are We Researching?

We have two research sites, both of which are in the state of Florida. The first, original location is on Florida’s southwest coast, in Gasparilla Sound. The second, newer location is in a section of the Matanzas River, near Marineland and not far from Fort Matanzas.
